Migrants in Culture - Autumn Activity
Migrants in Culture are back from our collective August break, and excited to share with you some of the offerings we have coming up for the Autumn.
Saturday School Autumn Talks
This Autumn, Saturday School continues in conversation with strategists, organisers and builders on the tension of holding longer-term visions whilst delivering in the present. We explore Refounding Institutions, Remaking Economics and Rehearsing Abolition.
As the status quo continues to fail, more and more of us are required to rehearse the liberatory futures we hope for. We ask ourselves - What are we learning and observing as we practise? What is shifting over time? How are we resourcing our long-term experimentation and transformation?
Saturday School is a year long creative learning lab for organisers to embody, imagine and design for border abolition. Find out more on our website.

Seasonal Meal Sharing

For this iteration of Roots and Routes in Late Summer, we gathered in the Migrants in Culture office around congee, broth and puerh tea to soothe our overloaded digestive systems. We turned again to the lessons of the elements, this time to feel how the qualities of earth can teach and hold us in this moment. We also paid close attention to the value of worries that may hold insight into the season ahead.
Design Agency ✏️
The Design Agency has been really busy over the summer period. We are opening up Autumn slots, and are especially interested in design and/or illustration commissions. You can find out more about our design services and rates on our website.
Sharing an ongoing project: In June, we enjoyed a pot luck lunch and imagined Land project dreams with Land In Our Names. We are excited to be collaborating with them to produce a visualisation of their ecosystem.

Article - Protecting our streets: police are never the answer
Following on from far-right attacks across Britain and Ireland this summer and the subsequent threat of increased policing, we want to share an article from Abolitionist Futures. Written By Maureen Mansfield, the article explores resisting the call for more police control, and claiming back what safety means, including building tangible alternative infrastructure for supporting our communities.
